Can I bring in a webseries?
Yes. You can bring in a half hour script, an hour long, a few episodes of a webseries, up to 50 pages of a screenplay, or you can workshop a TV bible/pitch.
How many workshops do I get?
Each writer workshops their script one time. You have one entire class dedicated to your script.
Will I get to ask questions?
Yes. Jess will make sure she understands what you want from your script and where you want it to go so she can make sure to help you get to where you want to go. We always make sure to tailor our teaching to what will help you get to where the you want to go.
What if I am only interested in working with a streaming service?
No matter where you intend to send your script you will need to understand the different requirements. More importantly no matter where the script winds up the tools of dialogue, character, world, structure, tone, story, plot and engine are universal for all scripts.
What about the weeks I am not workshopping my script?
Those weeks you will learn a lot! If you pay attention and take notes you can learn a lot from other peoples work. When you are not emotionally invested you can learn craft tools pretty quick. Jess is really good at pointing out what everyone can learn from a script and how to apply it to the script you are currently working on or the next script you work on.
You will walk away learning many tools that are applicable to all the scripts you write. Not just your current script.
You will also be lending your voice as a reader. You are not expected or encouraged to "ACT". We just want to hear what is written on the page. You will also be asked to evaluate and give feedback on the script being workshopped. Learning this unique way of analyzing scripts is another useful skill that will help you as a writer. It will allow you to practice your skills as a writer even when you are not writing.
On the week you workshop you will get notes specific to your script. On the weeks you are not workshopping you will learn craft and artistry tools, learn more about the industry, practice script analysis, and be an asset to your fellow writers.
What about genre?
All genres are welcome. Jess is very good at making sure that the universal tools like structure are discussed so even if you never intend to write a sci-fi thriller you will learn from participating in the workshop.

What if I have no desire to help other writers or learn more about the industry & I just want notes on my script?
We would recommend a private script consultation. (see above)
