MEDITATIVE WRITING : Creative/Artistic Health
You know you are meant to create but you haven't been creating. Or perhaps you sit down but the process feels empty. Perhaps you haven't picked up your pen, paintbrush, guitar, or ballet slippers in months, days, years. You are suffering but don't know what to do or where to start. Or maybe you just might want to do some preventative care, knowing that the road will be hard ahead, so you want to give yourself the best chance of making it through the tough times. If you would like a deep understanding and practice of artistic health you have come to the right place. You are not broken. You are not lazy. You are not doomed. You just don't understand what is happening neurologically. When we break down what is actually happening in your mind when you begin to even think about creating, it becomes much clearer what we need to do to develop a healthy process. “Meditative Writing truly is “assisted self-discovery.” For the same reason writers should take acting classes, Meditative Writing helps you get down into your body, to work a scene or character from the inside out. The practice has applications even beyond writing, into directing, pitching, and just being in the world. This class and subsequent practice has been extremely helpful to me in my work.”
– Christine Boylan, Writer/Producer at MARVEL/NETFLIX "I went to therapy for two years and I feel that I got more from this class than I ever did doing that. I have learned so much about myself and my writing and my (lack of) discipline. I have reconnected with many characters that I have put on hold for one reason or another. " - Shanna, FILMMAKER Jess’s class has made me love writing again! The trips into my imagination inform my writing more each class! - Steph, CREATOR |
