"I learned more in one session with Jess than I did in four years of NYU film school."- Jenna, NYU Film Graduate
"These are professional-grade tools that short circuit the fear, imposter syndrome, and perfectionism that stands in the way of you doing your best work. I rely on them regularly!"
- Carly Wray (Writer/Producer, Mad Men, Westworld)
"Meditative Writing truly is 'assisted self-discovery.' Meditative Writing helps you get down into your body, to work a scene or character from the inside out. The practice has applications even beyond writing, into directing, pitching, and just being in the world. This class and subsequent practice has been extremely helpful to me in my work.”

– Christine Boylan (Showrunner, AVATAR: The Last Airbender)

Questions?

Q: If I’m struggling with writer’s block, which class should I take?

A: If you’re feeling blocked or stuck in your process, start with Meditative Writing Level One. This class is designed to open up your creative flow, reconnect you to your voice, and give you simple, repeatable practices you can use any time you feel stuck. After Level One, Meditative Writing Level Two deepens the work and helps you build a sustainable writing practice and extends into your individual projects and craft development. For more personalized support, you can also sign up for one-on-one mentorship.

Q: If I need help with structure or craft, which class should I take?

A: If structure is your main challenge, acts, sequences, scenes, or episodic arcs, the TV/Screenplay Alchemy class is the best fit. We focus on turning raw ideas into clear, workable story structures for both TV and feature scripts, so you know exactly what happens, when, and why. For more personalized, project-specific guidance on your structure, you can also sign up for mentorship.

Q: My ideas feel scattered and I can’t stay in a regular writing process. What’s the best place to start?

A: Meditative Writing Level One is the best place to begin if your ideas feel chaotic or you struggle to stay in a steady writing rhythm. It focuses on grounding, attention, and gentle structure, so you can create a repeatable process instead of forcing yourself to “power through.” Once Level One feels solid, Meditative Writing Level Two builds on those foundations and helps you carry that process into larger projects. If you want individualized guidance to design a process around your life and goals, consider adding mentorship.

Q: I've been writing for decades but recently I've had some major changes in my life and I'm struggling, which class should I take?

A: This is natural. If you write long enough you will grow in and out of processes. To find what will work for you now we recommend you sign up for mentorship.

Q: I’ve taken other craft classes but I’m still blocked. Is there something that addresses the emotional side of writing?

A: Yes. Meditative Writing Level One is specifically designed to work with the emotional and mental side of the writing life, fear, perfectionism, self-doubt, and overthinking. Instead of pushing you harder, it teaches tools to soften resistance and create space for new pages to emerge. Meditative Writing Level Two then supports you in integrating these tools into a longer-term practice. For more personalized support around mindset and process, you can also sign up for mentorship.

Q: I have pages already, but I need craft guidance and feedback on my work. What class is right for me?

A: If you already have a draft or sample pages and want craft support plus feedback, choose the TV/Screenplay Alchemy class. We work directly with scenes and story beats, helping you sharpen character, dialogue, pacing, and emotional turns while giving you focused notes on your pages. For more tailored feedback and line-by-line guidance on a specific script, you can also sign up for mentorship.

Q: I’m not sure whether I need a process class or a craft class. How do I choose?

A: If you’re not regularly getting words on the page, because of writer’s block, self-doubt, or lack of routine, start with Meditative Writing Level One. If you are writing, but your script isn’t landing the way you want, confusing structure, flat scenes, or muddy arcs, go to the TV & Screenwriting Alchemy class. For help deciding and for a plan tailored to your current project, you can also sign up for mentorship. Really you could start with either and will be great!

Q: I want to improve my TV or film script (or play) and get clear, actionable notes. Where should I go?

A: For TV and feature screenplays, the TV/Screenplay Alchemy class is designed to give you both craft tools and practical feedback on your story. You’ll learn how to strengthen your pilot or feature through structure, character, and scene work, while seeing how those tools apply directly to your pages. If you’d like more in-depth, ongoing notes on a single project, sign up for mentorship for one-on-one, project-based support.

Q: I want feedback on my novel, memoir, personal essays or poetry. Where should I go?

A: Once or twice a year we offer prose specific classes, if you are on our email list you will get a notification of when those classes are available. In the meantime joining the Meditative Writing class is a great community to enter. If you need feedback right away mentorship or single consultations can be scheduled.

Q: How Does mentorship work?

A: It's build specific to your needs. Each writers' program is a unique combination of private session and/or classes, workshops & Masterclasses. We want to protect your unique voice and honor your schedule and unique brain, so we keep thing pretty modular. Lean more here.

Q: I feel lost and I'm crashing out.

A: Feel free to email us at info (at) meditativewriting.org or text 917. 338.5002 and we will help you discover what you need to get you where you want to go. You can get great ideas and helpful tool on our insta.
