Not yet ready to workshop but want to learn more about screenwriting techniques? Join us as a non-workshop participant. You will participate in the readings, script analysis, and feedback sessions without workshopping your own script. This will help prepare you to write your own screenplay! And you get to be a part of an awesome tribe of writers.
SCREENWRITING ALCHEMY
4 Week workshop for Screenwriters, TV writers, playwrights & Web series creators
First, middle, or final drafts.
Learn how to turn any pages - into great ones. Cliché transforms into one of a kind, expository morphs into hypnotic, confusing into profound, and average into extraordinary.
HOW TO WRITE GREAT SCRIPTS NOT JUST AVERAGE SCRIPTS
Discover how to shape-shift for the creation of a magnificent screenplay.
In this workshop, we focus on you. Your mind, your story, your goals. We approach the art and craft of screenwriting utilizing research in evolutionary biology, neuroscience, and psychology.
By focusing on the way you approach the page, you will build a set of tools that will apply to every script you ever write.
DISCOVER TOOLS THAT ARE SHAPED FOR THE FUTURE OF THE INDUSTRY
We deep dive into your understanding of character, action, structure, theme, dialogue, subtext, the mind of the reader, the heart of a producer (yes, they do have hearts) and most importantly - your story.
Every week you will discover and practice new tools for building story and structure through character, theme, and intuition.
Workshop up to 30 pages of your script and get a clear plan of how to move forward in the most effective way possible! At the end of your workshop you will have a very clear plan of what to do next.
A BETTER WAY TO GIVE AND TRANSLATE FEEDBACK
Discover a healthier and more effective approach to feedback. Unlike most classes, Jess prioritizes effective feedback that eliminates damaging notes birthed of ego, criticism, or ignorance.
The small class size (6 scripts workshopped) guarantees you get the feedback you need for where you are in your process.
We provide a safe but challenging approach. So you can be vulnerable, creative and free while you grow, overcome obstacles and move forward on your journey as a writer.
MEDITATIVE WRITING REVIEWS
“Meditative Writing truly is “assisted self-discovery.” For the same reason writers should take acting classes, Meditative Writing helps you get down into your body, to work a scene or character from the inside out. The practice has applications even beyond writing, into directing, pitching, and just being in the world. This class and subsequent practice has been extremely helpful to me in my work.”
– Christine Boylan, Writer/Producer at Marvel/Netflix "Do this, it will make you feel less afraid and like you can work again. Jess has gotten me through some very severe, severe blocks. So these tools are valuable throughout your entire career. they are professional tools. " - Carly Wray, MADMEN MINDHUNTER, WESTWORLD “With [Jess] I’ve always felt the deep pleasure of collaborating with someone of genuine seriousness and dedication. Actors find her work challenging and emotionally nurturing and her colleagues appreciate her deep commitment to the truth.” – Christopher Shinn, Pulitzer Prize Nominated Playwright |
