The First Draft
8 weeks to your screenplay
SCREENWRITING: Birthing The First Draft
Are you an artist and have the desire to write a screenplay but find that most approaches rob you of the art and feel like an algorithm meant to hack a system?
Art cannot be planned. Great works require a surrender. Yet a screenplay is a beast and often times, complete surrender can leave you with 150 pages that you're not sure what to do with. This is why we've created a new workshop just for you.
This is 8 weeks of assisted self-discovery providing a few boundaries and allowing your artistry to go wild. So at the end of 8 weeks you will have a beautiful first draft that has within it the story, structure, and DNA needed to rewrite a beautiful professional final draft.
Come in with nothing - or just an idea - or even a few pages or sequences written - and walk away with a new script.
Learn an approach to structure that doesn't strangle your creativity or create paint by number scripts that the world has already seen.
Be in a group of like-minded artists who are dissatisfied with the status quo and want to change our culture and the industry one script at a time.
This is an approach focused on using your unique artistry and voice to create a great screenplay - not an average screenplay.
Sundays 7:15pm EST - 8:30pm EST
NOTE: We will be focusing on the process of a first draft, we will not be looking at pages or discussing rewriting. If you want to work on rewriting, we suggest the Alchemy workshop or Mentorship.
We recommend you have at least 30 minutes (preferably 1-2 hours) every day to write to make the most of this class.
This class averages 18 writers.
